Waterfowl Hunting SeasonThe waterfowl hunting season begins in the autumn months running into winter. In the fall, waterfowl such as ducks and geese have finished raising their young and begin to migrate south to warmer areas for feeding. In the United States there are four large flyways that the waterfowl follow. These flyways include the Atlantic, Mississippi, Mountain and Pacific Flyways. Hunters can best find waterfowl along rivers, lakes and ponds as well as fields of corn, barley, wheat and millet. Many hunters prefer cloudy or rainy days as the air pressure is low causing the ducks to fly lower more often. Hunting seasons are set and regulated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service in the United States. Waterfowl season dates are only tentative at first as set dates are not chosen until the end of August. Hunters can visit their state fish and wildlife commission online in order to obtain season start dates. In preperation for the season many hunters will begin to check their gear for any damages and to access their waterfowl hunting needs. This ensures that they have all of the necessities for opening day. For hunters looking to hunt on private land or to book a guided hunt they can find an abundance of information at their fingertips. With the aid of the Internet, hunters can locate waterfowl hunting land for lease, book guided hunts or rent a lodge or cabin any where they choose. Arkansas is home to the Mississippi flyway and has many waterfowl hunters planning for the 2010-2011 duck season, which opens in approximatly three months. Hunting clubs can be beneficial as they allow for more hunting proprty options as well as the benefit of being guided to where to ducks are by professional outfitters such as those with BMW Hunting. For those waterfowl hunters looking to discuss, learn or share information about the upcoming waterfowl season, there are a number of entertaining and educational waterfowl season forums available online. These forums are free sites that connect fellow hunters through messanger boards (chat rooms), waterfowl site links for equipment, news, etc and previous season photos to get the blood pumping. Join others like yourself in the countdown to the 2010 waterfowl season. For more information about waterfowl hunting season call (870) 219-3523. |
